Mission
Based in Montreal, Le Monastère is a non-profit company that supports the growth and development of contemporary circus by offering artists a platform to showcase their original creations.
The company offers affordable high-calibre entertainment; a rare opportunity to experience circus up close and personal, in an exceptional setting. Additionally, Le Monastère creates private shows tailored to the needs of corporate clients.

Beginning
A realization
"As professional circus artists, we have traveled the world with the biggest companies such as Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize and many others. But for several years we’ve been drawn to the idea of creating more circus performances in Quebec and promoting this art form to new audiences." Rosalie and Guillaume
Creation of the organisation
In 2016, Le Monastère presented its first self-produced cabarets: a performance platform in Montreal and one in Beauce. The team wanted to offer new ways to enjoy circus arts to an audience eager for cultural discoveries, while creating more jobs opportunities for local artists and stage technicians.

Our eco-responsible commitments
We also have a few words to share with you about our eco-responsible commitments.
The societal and environmental issues facing society are enormous, we are convinced that art must be an essential part of a socio-ecological transition.
Thus, Le Monastère has already put in place many eco-responsible actions such as offering exclusively Quebec alcohol products at the bar and a free water service, all in reusable glasses that we keep on site. A waste sorting station is also available, while trying to reduce waste production.
An internal eco-responsible committee and support from the CQEER allow us to give an impulse to our approach and to aspire to do better.
